When Do You Need a Vehicle-Mounted Driving Survey?

Vehicle-Mounted Driving Surveys are designed to detect potential natural gas leaks along surveyed routes. Discover AMLD enables methane and ethane measurements while the survey vehicle travels near gas infrastructure, supporting inspection across larger areas.

Inspecting Gas Distribution and Transmission Networks

Use vehicle-based surveys to inspect designated routes near natural gas pipeline assets.

Identifying Potential Gas Leak Indications

Detect methane and ethane in the air near the survey vehicle to help identify potential natural gas emissions.

Localizing and Quantifying Potential Emissions

Use gas measurements alongside GPS and wind data to support estimates of potential leak-source locations and emission rates.

Natural Gas Leak Detection Across Gas Networks

Inspecting extensive gas distribution networks requires an approach that can cover large areas efficiently. SensorX provides vehicle-based driving surveys using Advanced Mobile Leak Detection (AMLD) technology to identify potential gas leaks along surveyed routes.

Discover AMLD uses open-path, fixed-path Mid-IR Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) to measure methane and ethane at parts-per-billion (ppb) resolution. Ethane measurements help distinguish pipeline gas from naturally occurring biogas.

How Vehicle-Based Leak Surveys Work

Discover AMLD enables vehicle-mounted detection of methane and ethane during natural gas leak surveys. Its open-path TDLAS technology, combined with GPS and wind measurement, helps survey teams detect potential leaks and distinguish pipeline gas from naturally occurring biogas.

Vehicle-Based Inspection

The gas detection equipment is mounted on a survey vehicle to support driving surveys across the designated network.

GPS and Wind Measurement

The system integrates GPS and an anemometer alongside the gas detection unit to support survey data collection.

Methane and Ethane Detection

Discover AMLD detects both gases using open-path TDLAS technology, with resolution in the ppb range.

Leak Data and Analysis

The Discover AMLD software supports real-time and post-processed leak detection, leak localization, survey coverage information and emission quantification.

What Our Clients Say

Dylan Owens

"Having experience with TDLAS gas detectors prior to trying SensorX Solutions, I found the integration and in-flight performance of FluX Aero to be simple, straight forward, and less prone to noise in the survey area. The ability to suspend the intake several meters below or in front of the aircraft allowed precise placement of the sensing capability, and facilitated over-water operations without the known issues associated with laser based sensors.”
